Irrigation Shut off on 10/7/2026
Highlands Irrigation water was turned off on the afternoon of 10/7 due to lower than expected water levels in the canal. You may see dripping from your sprinklers as the system adapts to the water shutoff.
DO NOT FORGET TO HAVE YOUR SPRINKLER SYSTEM BLOWN OUT THIS FALL TO AVOID FROZEN/CRACKED IRRIGATION PIPES IN THE SPRING WHICH WILL RESULT IN COSTLY REPAIRS.
Dead Grass and Invasive Weeds
Many homeowners have had a very difficult year with their front lawns. We have received concerns about multiple houses with invasive weeds and grass that did not survive this year, despite regular tending. If you are concerned about your front yard and feel it's a problem stemming to the original landscaping you should reach out to the builder of your home and/or the landscape company they hired to install your lawn. Unfortunately this may mean new sod will need to be laid.
If you cannot get help from your builder, you should reach out to a reputable landscape company to see if your yard needs correction. You can find landscapers through a Google search (look for the number of reviews and their rating) or by talking to your neighbors. The Emmett Highland Facebook Group is also a great place to ask neighbors for advice and recommendations. The HOA is not affiliated with this group.
Zamzows is a Treasure Valley staple and can offer tips and information on diagnosing and treating landscape concerns. They do not offer landscaping services, just products and information. Other businesses in Emmett that offer similar products and expertise include Tractor Supply Co., High Desert Feed & Supply, and Rocky Mountain True Value.
It's wise to look into these issues now before the snow falls so you aren't starting from scratch in the spring. Good luck!
